What is the registration of overseas food production enterprises in China?

According to the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC) issued Order No. 248 (Regulations on the Registration and Management of Overseas Production Enterprises for Imported Food) and Order No. 249 (Measures for the Safety Management of Exported Food), all overseas production enterprises exporting food to China must be recommended for registration by the competent department of the country (region) where they are located to the General Administration of Customs of China, and obtain a unique "registration number in China". This number is the "entry permit" for food that can be legally imported into China. Without it, the goods will be refused entry during customs clearance.
